Last day

Firstly, a couple of views from the restaurant at breakfast.

Then off to a temple for some salvation.

But best of all was the trip to the elephant sanctuary.

Then it was back to Chiang Mai, give the bikes back and go to the hotel before catching a flight home the next day.  All safe and sound.

Heading Back

We started with an overcast and cloudy sky.  We were in the most chilly province in Thailand, and I could tell.  It was definitely cool, so all zips done up.  An interesting result of the climate is that this area is very intensively cultivated as it can grow lots of stuff which is exotic - for Thailand.  Hence the lavender, and potatoes.

This was a 430 kms day, so not much dawdling for photos, but I did take a few.

Just after we stopped to warm up, this guy pulled up.  I don't think there are any regulations on loads. I saw one earlier with the same height of load made up of bags of fertiliser.
This was our lunchtime view from one side of the restaurant.
This was the view from the other side.  We had moved into a much busier part of Thailand.  The roads were better, but they were also much busier in places.  This was just a Thai version of a service area I suppose.  We had a great lunch of fried rice and green papaya salad.
Nice to see a significant presence for Wall's.  I always managed to get a magnum in Laos.  Market penetration in Thailand doesn't seem to be quite so deep, but there's still plenty around.
 Other types of stall too.
 Afternoon tea stop.

We are staying at a resort in Lampang.  It is quite old I think and has seen better days.  It is still very elegant though, even if tiredly so.  This is my room.

and the views from my balcony.

This is the outside of my cabin.
 Then some of the grounds.

I've eaten and done my blog, so I'm off to listen to some music and go to bed.
